Insulin supply!
Prof. Dr. Tamás Várkonyi, Secretary General of the MDT, and Prof. Dr. István Wittmann, President of the MDT, issued a presidential and general secretary's letter regarding the supply of Tresiba insulin.
There is no reason to worry, because according to their knowledge, there is no other reason for the temporary shortage than the purchase for the purpose of stocking up!
We have come to know that the distribution of the FlexTouch dosing device, which is also used to dose Tresiba, cannot keep up with the current increased demands. We emphasize that there is no shortage of insulin, but there may be a problem with the pen supply. It may appear that it is nothing more than panic buying.
If an acute shortage were to occur in some areas of the country, a temporary switch of those on Tresiba treatment to a similar, 2nd generation, basal insulin analog, whose delivery device is available, could be considered.
